  • 4 cups tortilla chips preferably sturdy for toppings
  • 2 cups shredded cheese cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a blend
  • 1/2 cup sliced jalapeños optional for heat
  • 1 cup diced cooked chicken optional, for added protein
  • 1 cup sour cream for serving
  • fresh cilantro chopped cilantro optional garnish

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper

Method

  1. Line your baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  2. Spread the tortilla chips evenly across the prepared baking sheet in a single layer, covering the surface without overlapping too much.
  3. Sprinkle the shredded cheese generously over the chips, ensuring all areas are covered with a gooey blanket of cheese.
  4. Add sliced jalapeños and diced chicken evenly across the top for additional flavor and spice.
  5. Place the baking sheet in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) and bake until the cheese is melted and bubbly, about 12-15 minutes. The edges of the chips should be crisp and golden.
  6. Remove the sheet from the oven and garnish with freshly chopped cilantro. Serve hot with dollops of sour cream on the side.
