Ingredients

  • 1 cup dark roast coffee brewed strong
  • 1/2 cup milk dairy or plant-based
  • 1 drop peppermint extract or 2 crushed peppermint candies
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder unsweetened
  • whipped whipped cream for topping
  • to taste sugar or sweetener optional, for sweetness
  • 1 tiny candy cane for garnish

Equipment

  • French press or pour-over
  • Small saucepan
  • Whisk or spoon
  • Mug

Method

  1. Start by brewing a strong cup of dark roast coffee using your preferred method; set aside.
  2. In a small saucepan, gently heat the milk over low heat until it begins to steam, about 2 minutes.
  3. Add a drop of peppermint extract or finely crushed peppermint candies to the warm milk. Stir gently with a whisk or spoon until the candies melt or the extract is fragrant, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Pour the brewed coffee into your favorite mug, filling it about three-quarters full.
  5. Slowly add the peppermint-infused milk to the coffee, allowing the creamy white to swirl into the dark brew, creating a beautiful marbled effect.
  6. Stir in cocoa powder and a sweetener if desired, blending well until fully incorporated and the drink is smooth.
  7. Top the drink with a generous dollop of whipped cream and garnish with a tiny candy cane for a festive touch.
  8. Enjoy your cozy peppermint mocha while it’s warm, fragrant, and visually inviting.
