Ingredients

  • 4 large carrots preferably organic for sweetness and texture
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter for richness and shine
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup pure for best flavor
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice brightens the dish
  • a pinch sea salt preferably flaky salt for presentation
  • optional fresh herbs such as thyme or parsley, chopped

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Peeler
  • Spatula or wooden spoon
  • Measuring spoons
  • Knife and cutting board

Method

  1. Peel the carrots and cut them into uniform rounds or sticks for even cooking and attractive presentation.
  2. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat until it begins to bubble softly and releases a rich aroma.
  3. Add the prepared carrots to the skillet and cook, stirring frequently, for about 5 to 7 minutes. The carrots should start to soften and develop a slight caramelization, smelling sweet and toasty.
  4. Pour the maple syrup over the carrots, tossing them to coat evenly. Continue cooking for another 3 to 4 minutes, stirring often, until the syrup thickens and glazes the carrots with a glossy, amber sheen.
  5. Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt over the glazed carrots and squeeze in the lemon juice, stirring gently to combine and brighten the flavors.
  6. Remove the skillet from heat and transfer the carrots to a serving dish. Garnish with chopped fresh herbs if desired, adding a burst of color and freshness.
  7. Serve the carrots warm, enjoying their tender texture and sweet, sticky glaze that beautifully balances earthy flavors with a citrusy zing.
